About Me

Hi, I'm Matt! I'm a hiking enthusiast with a travel bug. When I'm not behind the camera, I'm usually behind either a bar, or a book.

What I love about photography is its power to steal away a moment from time and preserve it in amber. It allows you to recall the emotions and the details your other senses may have otherwise forgotten.

Looking at a photo of the Istanbul skyline in early morning, I remember the jet lag throwing my girlfriend Sydney and I out of bed at 3am. I remember sleepwalking across a mostly empty bridge - with the exception of handful of enterprising fishermen, hanging their long lines over the railings. I recall exploring closed market streets - calm now before the storm of a busy day ahead and still fragrant with spices clinging to the hazy summer air. We stumbled upon a garage with an open rooftop deck and a broken ladder to the side that we rebelliously scaled, hoping to catch the first glimpse of the sun as it climbed inch by inch in the sky. The crunch of gravel under our feet on the rooftop echoed in our ears as we stood watching the sky turn from the dark of night to pale peach to sherbet orange in less than an hour.

Before taking any photograph, I ask myself what story will this stolen moment tell - each story is never the same. A single headshot can tell a story of a strong, confident individual who looks like someone who makes you think, "I'd grab a beer with them." Even if it takes a bit of furniture climbing, my photos will share your best stories.

I'm based in Boston, but am ready to travel.
